Taking my dreams (that is, dinner) on the road.
Three hundred strangers have come to the table, and the west coast is next!
Today I realized that I’ve sat at the table with over three hundred people in the last five months. That’s three hundred stories and histories that might look like my history or nothing like my history, that’s three hundred people with a favorite color and a favorite dessert they like to eat on their birthday. That’s three hundred perspectives on how to chase after a dream or leave something that isn’t working or how to heal a broken heart.
There have been people who are in a great place in their lives and people who are looking to infuse their life with more feeling, more meaning, more passion. There have been people who are going through the hardest season of their life.
This project started with two questions: what happens when we ask a question that gets past small talk? And, what happens when we answer honestly?
I’m coming home to the west coast this month, with a dinner in Seattle and a dinner in Vancouver. It’s felt wild to plan dinners in my “hometowns” — I grew up in the suburbs of Vancouver and my mom grew up outside of Seattle — and while these are the cities I return to for holidays and connecting with family, I very rarely get to share my work with the people I know there. This feels really special to spend extended time on the coast that I love and the coast that raised me and connect with you over dinner.
Dinner in Seattle is on Wednesday, March 20th, and you can find tickets here.
Dinner in Vancouver is on Wednesday, March 27th, and you can find tickets here.
I’d love for you to spread the word if you have loved ones in these cities! Thanks for supporting this work, it means the world.
Hope to see you at the table soon!
